Resident Education in Anxiety, Depression, and Suicidality (READS)

Audience

Pediatric educators, including pediatric residency core faculty, child and adolescent psychiatrists, psychologists, or any clinician responsible for resident mental health education.

Description

The READS Program equips key residency faculty with the skills and confidence to teach evidence-based assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of anxiety, depression, and suicidality in children and adolescents. This innovative faculty development program supports residency programs to provide high-quality mental health training to their residents.

The program includes:

10 Hours of Live, Expert-Led Training – delivered virtually over two half-day sessions.

Practical, Turnkey Teaching Materials – all participants receive a complete teaching toolkit, including:

  • PowerPoint slides for use with residents
  • Video recordings of READS training sessions
  • Public domain rating scales for anxiety, depression, and suicide risk
  • Handouts for residents (diagnosis, treatment, algorithms)
  • Dosing guides and medication cards
  • Handouts for families and caregivers

Ongoing Implementation Support – after the training, participants join four live follow-up sessions to:

  • Support implementation with residents
  • Troubleshoot teaching challenges
  • Deepen clinical knowledge
  • Help faculty prepare to answer resident questions confidently
