Birju Desai, MD, is a pediatrician in Reno, NV, working to address significant gaps in children’s mental health care across the state, particularly in rural and Hispanic communities. He looks forward to his PPP experience strengthening local pediatric capacity, improving care integration, and reducing unnecessary referrals and long waits. As a pediatric resident planning to serve rural Nevada, he sees the training as an opportunity to bring greater mental health expertise to communities where access is limited.
